Below is my official press statement on the official Black Sabbath trademark lawsuit. I am very saddened that I’ve had to take legal action against Tony. This is something that I’ve tried to avoid for years. I am not Geezer or Bill’s voice. However, till the day I die I will not change my mind on this issue. The Black Sabbath trademark should be equally owned by Geezer, Bill, Tony and I as the true Black Sabbath lineup is Tony, Geezer, Bill and I. We’ve all been mates since school. I’ve always said there is an invisible thread that holds us together. Tony, lets get this ridiculous issue sorted and move on with our lives. You’re 61, I’m 60. I hope that we’ve got a good 20 years left in us. But if not, God Forbid something happens to you. What’s going to happen to the Black Sabbath trademark? Who’s going to oversee it? Don’t you think after we’re long gone the rights should stay in your family, my family, Bill’s family and Geezer’s family?
Statement from OZZY OSBOURNE:
“It is with great regret that I had to resort to legal action against my long term partner, Tony Iommi, but after three years of trying to resolve this issue amicably, I feel I have no other recourse. As of the mid-1990’s, after constant and numerous changes in band members, the brand of "Black Sabbath" was literally in the toilet and Tony Iommi (touring under the name Black Sabbath) was reduced to performing in clubs. Since 1997 when Geezer, Bill and myself rejoined the band, Black Sabbath has returned to its former glory as we headlined sold-out arenas and amphitheatres playing to upwards of 50,000 people at each show around the world. We worked collectively to restore credibility and bring dignity back to the name “Black Sabbath” which lead to the band being inducted into the

I don't know the full history behind this, but I'm sad to hear about this riff in the group. As with any situation where money is involved, there are bound to be fights over who owns the rights and who's entitled to the money. I hope this works out for you guys. The courts should fined that Each project under the name Black Sabbath with different members should be separately categorized for example all works under the name Black Sabbath is copy written by Ozzy Tony Bill and Geezer. All works EVER written and performed by Tony Dio Bill and Geezer should all be written under the name Heaven and Hell not Black Sabbath. If Tony wants full writes to Heaven and Hell that's his business, but Black Sabbath clearly was and always will be OZZY TONY BILL AND GEEZER!

Whats your problem Ozzy? You screwed Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake, and your wife messed with Iron Maiden on their last date on ozzfest `05. Lately your the one that has stained the Black sabbath name. I hope your wife never gets her claws into the Black Sabbath trademark. Black Sabbath is the riff, Toni Iommi is THE riff master, Black Sabbath is Tony Iommi.

i agree with Ozzy > the name /trademark was made by the ORIGINAL 4 and thats where it should stay . No offense to any other member of the group . It's that it should stay with the rightful original 4 .

I totally agree with Ozzie, He speaks with righteousness and is clearly honest about the reality of the journey.
I hope Tony takes his advise and comes to an agreement that will make not only all their families happy but us "the fans" also.

The original line up is what made the band what it is. other artists that played with the band contributated but did not create it. All rights should go to the original band members. Sorry it had to come to this but sometimes people need a good slap to wake up to reality. You go Ozzy lets hope it works out right!!!

I agree with ozzy to a point. The '69-'79 and '97-2000 BS stuff is 90% of BS brand name. But Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules are HUGE and not Ozzy's.
Sorry but I'm a huge Sabbath Fan and H&H is Tony's best work by far.
