Please read this before responding. To me it seems like there's a lot of old school metal heads on this forum or just people who are bored that listen to metal. I agree that older metal is definitely more badass to rock to, but either 1.You gotta live in modern days or 2.Live an old school life and jam out to old school metal....Modern metal is definitely extremely different that bands like old metallica, anthrax, megadeth, etc. but in reality it's the metal that is here today. There guitarists, drummers, and singers in modern metal bring a whole new era than what metal started at as...and people who diss on modern metal bands are just ignoring the obvious of what metal has become...I'm not saying this to everyone, but a lot of people seem to be stuck on old school metal which there is nothing wrong with that; but in reality metal has changed...either except that or don't

sorry for fucking posting again but no damn edit button...but metal has become so fucking more technical than it used to be. Yes I will agree with any old school metal head that many bands around that time were badass metal bands, but now metal is ten times more technical now than it used to be. The metal age has definitely advanced since great legends such as metallica, megadeth, etc. differently day and age now

i dunno if i can tottally agree with that i mean under some circumstances your right, but go back to the 80s and the thrash metal days, those were some of the fastest most technical rifts i have heard and the only bands that can really play at par with those old songs are the bands that originally wrote them that are bring out new music, , but i personally dont have a problem with modern metal bands, its more the people that listen to alot of the bands that are annoying to me, like people who think they are metalheads because they have Angel of death or reign in blood on the MP3s but listen to like mainstream hiphop artists and stuff,

I do like alot of modern bands I just hate modern bands that sound like shit.Bands like BMTH,BFMV,The devil wears prada,Slipknot,Trivium and so on.There are some people who think this is all todays metal has to offer and they are so very wrong.Those bands I named they are all garbage and they will not stand the test of time.
I like new and old school. I like old school slightly better though

Metal imo kinda died around the late 90's when Nu metal got big. Of course there are some decent new wave of metal bands like Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust and Warbringer, there are a ton of mediocre bands that try way to hard especially in the deathcore and metalcore scene. That shit needs to die, give me back my Venom and Celtic Frost.

I don't know I would say metal died in the 90's. It definitely went through a transition as rap (unfortunately) became mainstream. Since the 90's metal seems to be transitioning back to its roots to a point. A lot of the old Nu Metal bands have died off and the ones that are still around and making albums have done everything they can to change their style and get away from their Nu Metal labeling. I doubt if metal will ever again be as big as it once was but it is far from dead.
