Metal Insanity: Could you tell us the story on how you met Ozzy and became his Bass Player?
Blasko: I first opened for Ozzy when I was in Prong in about ’95. Then when I joined Rob Zombie in ’98 we did a bunch of tours with Ozzy. Over the years of touring, we just became friendly. When he was looking for a bass player after Newstead left, I was on down time from Zombie, and it was a great opportunity for me.
Metal Insanity: I love the new album (Black Rain). What was it like working with Ozzy and Zakk in the Studio?
Blasko: It was a great experience. I am very fortunate to have been involved with such a killer album and a great bunch of guys.
Metal Insanity: The track ‘Civilize The Universe’ has a killer Bass Line does it just come naturally?
Blasko: Sometimes yes, but other times I really have to work at it. Each song has it’s own set of challenges.
Metal Insanity: A little bit about Blasko… Where are you originally from?
Blasko: I am from Los Angeles. I have been touring and putting out records with various bands since ’86.
Metal Insanity: Who are your major influences when it comes to the Bass?
Blasko: Cliff, Lemmy, Geezer, Nekroman & Vicious.
Metal Insanity: The first band you ever played with?
Blasko: Cryptic Slaughter.
Metal Insanity: Equipment, what kind Bass and Amps do you use?
Blasko: I exclusively endorse Schecter Guitars and Mesa-Boogie amps.
Metal Insanity: At some point it had to hit you that you had finally made the Big Time, in a list of Bassist you will forever reside; Geezer Butler, Bob Daisley, Rudy Sarzo, Robert Trujillo, Blasko! Some would consider you are at the top. Could you elaborate on your success?
Blasko: I have been very lucky and very fortunate. I in no way put myself in league with the above-mentioned players, but I appreciate the compliment.
Metal Insanity: Is there anything you would like to state?
Blasko: Come visit me at www.myspace.com/blasko666
Metal Insanity: Thank you for the interview, I will see you at Ozzfest!!!
Blasko: Thank you. See ya then!
Metal Insanity: Definitely. And, thank you once again for taking the time for this interview we appreciate it greatly!
